5-day Semien Mountain trekking tour Ethiopia
Day 1: Arrival in Semien Mountains
- Arrive at the Semien Mountains National Park, located in northern Ethiopia.
- Meet your experienced local guide and transfer to your accommodation.
- Take some time to relax and acclimatize to the altitude.
Day 2: Sankaber to Geech Camp
- After breakfast, start your trek from Sankaber, the park’s main entrance.
- Enjoy breathtaking views of the dramatic landscapes, deep valleys, and towering peaks.
- Trek through lush vegetation, spotting endemic wildlife such as the Gelada baboon and Ethiopian wolf.
- Reach Geech Camp, where you’ll spend the night in tents.
Day 3: Geech Camp to Chennek Camp
- Continue your trek from Geech Camp towards Chennek Camp.
- Pass through stunning scenery, including the Jinbar Waterfall and the Imet Gogo viewpoint.

- Arrive at Chennek Camp, set up camp, and spend the night surrounded by the beauty of the mountains.
Day 4: Chennek Camp to Ambiko Camp
- Embark on a challenging trek from Chennek Camp to Ambiko Camp.
- Traverse rugged terrain and cross high mountain passes, including the Buwahit Pass.
- Marvel at the panoramic views of the surrounding peaks, including Ras Dashen, the highest mountain in Ethiopia.
- Arrive at Ambiko Camp, set up camp, and rest for the night.
Day 5: Ambiko Camp to Ras Dashen Summit and Return
- Today is the highlight of the trek as you ascend to the summit of Ras Dashen, standing at 4,550 meters (14,928 feet).
- Start early in the morning to catch the sunrise from the summit.
- Enjoy the breathtaking views from the top and take memorable photos.
- Descend back to Ambiko Camp for a well-deserved rest.
- After resting, trek back to the park entrance at Sankaber.
- Bid farewell to the Semien Mountains and transfer to your next destination.
