4-day Semien Mountain trekking tour IEthiopia
Day 1:
- Arrival in Debark: You will be picked up from the airport in Debark and transferred to your hotel. Take some time to rest and acclimatize to the altitude.
- Briefing and Preparation: Meet your guide who will provide a detailed briefing about the trekking route, safety precautions, and equipment. You can also rent any necessary gear if needed.
Day 2:
- Debark to Sankaber: After breakfast, drive to the Semien Mountains National Park entrance. Begin your trek from Debark to Sankaber, which is approximately a 4-5 hour hike. Enjoy the stunning views of the rugged landscape and endemic wildlife along the way. Set up camp at Sankaber for the night.
Day 3:
- Sankaber to Geech: Start your day with a hearty breakfast before continuing your trek from Sankaber to Geech. This is a challenging but rewarding 6-7 hour hike. Along the way, you’ll pass through beautiful valleys, encounter Gelada baboons, and witness breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks. Camp overnight at Geech.
Day 4:
- Geech to Chenek and Return: Today, you’ll hike from Geech to Chenek, which takes around 5-6 hours. Chenek is known for its stunning viewpoints and the chance to spot the rare Ethiopian wolf. After exploring the area, you’ll return to Geech for lunch. In the afternoon, descend back to Debark and transfer to your hotel.
