4-day Danakil Depression tour Ethiopia
Day 1:
- Arrival in Mekele: You will arrive in Mekele, the capital city of the Tigray region in Ethiopia. Our representative will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel.
- City Tour: After some rest, you will embark on a city tour of Mekele, visiting attractions such as the Emperor Yohannes IV Palace Museum and the Martyrs’ Memorial Monument.
- Overnight in Mekele: You will spend the night at a comfortable hotel in Mekele.
Day 2:
- Drive to Hamed Ela: After breakfast, we will drive to Hamed Ela, a small village located in the Danakil Depression. The journey will take approximately 4-5 hours.
- Dallol: Upon arrival in Hamed Ela, we will visit the otherworldly Dallol, known for its colorful hot springs, salt formations, and geysers. You will have the opportunity to explore this unique landscape and take stunning photographs.
- Overnight in Hamed Ela: You will spend the night in a basic camp or guesthouse in Hamed Ela.
Day 3:
- Erta Ale Volcano: Today, we will embark on an early morning trek to the Erta Ale Volcano, one of the few active lava lakes in the world. The trek will take approximately 3-4 hours, and you will be accompanied by experienced guides.
- Lava Lake Observation: Upon reaching the summit, you will witness the mesmerizing sight of the bubbling lava lake. You will have ample time to observe and photograph this natural wonder.
- Overnight at Erta Ale: You will spend the night camping near the volcano, enjoying the unique experience of sleeping under the stars in this remote location.
Day 4:
- Return to Mekele: After breakfast, we will trek back to the base camp and drive back to Mekele. The journey will take approximately 5-6 hours.
- Departure: Upon arrival in Mekele, our representative will transfer you to the airport for your departure.
